KIDS MAKE MOVIES

ANIMATION AND MOVIE-MAKING FOR KIDS

after school

Movie-making classes

Action! Let’s make a movie!

Students create a complete short movie, from beginning to end with one teacher and one assistant.

PRE-PRODUCTION

we come up with a story together.

First we work on a script and storyboards, choose backgrounds, then we cast the roles and rehearse.

PRODUCTION

“Roll camera!” filming in front a green screen is next. Students learn how to set up lights and sound and take turns as director, camera operator, sound operator, clap board person.

POST-PRODUCTION

filmmakers will also learn editing basics in iMovie 10. We provide all necessary equipment to make a movie: 2 cameras on tripods, professional lights, microphones, green screen, props and make up.

At the end of the class, everybody gets the movie on a DVD and a QuickTime file for their websites!

2D Animation classes

This animation class is the process of crafting the digital story that builds communication, creativity, visual and sound literacy, and project management skills.

Telling their stories with text, pictures, and personal narration becomes easy. Animation helps students engage their audience with features like pan and zoom, the ability to match frame duration to sound recording, and more.

During a trimester  (about 9 classes) students come up with their own stories and write a script for their projects during the first two classes. Using Frames 2D animation software students illustrate their stories through animating their characters that they draw or choose to use the clip art library characters. They decide about their own backgrounds, record voice-overs, choose a sound track for their projects.

After the class, students get a DVD with their masterpieces and can share their movies online with friends and family.

Stop animation

Stop animation is a great tool to tell your story.A student creates a stop animation movie using sculptures made out of clay, paper or using his/hers Lego collection.

We work on a story outline, write a script,

record voice overs. We create the backgrounds. The backgrounds can be drawn, build from Lego bricks and plates, or use photo backgrounds.

It’s time to film!

We take many-many photographs using a professional photo cameras on tripods. We use the Dragon interface software to take pictures. After that we edit the scenes in Final Cut adding music and sound effects.

A student can chose to work in the one-one settings with the teacher or invite a friend(s) to work together. Teamwork is essential in producing stop motion, taking numerous pictures, have a variety of voices for voice overs and creating a story.

At the end of the class student(s) receive a DVD and a Quick Time file of the movie to put it on a website or send it to friends and family members.

2D Animation

A student tells his/her story through the means of 2D animation in Frames software, or images made in Photoshop and then put together in Final Cut. Students can draw the

characters or use the ready made images from the library. Images fro the internet also can b used in animations.

We write a script and record voice overs, choose the backgrounds, create characters and animate them. Sound effects and music files also can be a great part of animations.

MOVIE

PARTIES

Our movie-making parties are very special.

Usually they happen on the 10th anniversary.

It can be a time travel movie, a news show, a battle scene between the Romans and the Greeks or anything the celebrity thinks would match the date.  We encourage the young film-makers to make movies on many topics in their admirable lives that would make a point in history.

The birthday child brings her/his friends into the project. We work on the script, the participants prepare for the day of the filming. We can come to your place for the event or we rent a

green screen studio for it.

Action! Kids turn the movie making jobs during the filming, when they are not on stage, to be the director, slate person, sound operator and the director’s assistant.

After the party we do the editing of the movie. The birthday child is invited to participate! Everybody gets the DVD and a file that can be shared with the family and friends over the social media.

What we offer is the experience that can, and will be, we guarantee, watched a million of times and stays with you for the rest of your life.
